Keysight / Agilent 71450B Overview

Whether you are testing LEDs, Fabry-Perot Lasers, or Distributed Feed Back (DFB) Lasers, the HP 71450B has what it takes to quickly, easily, and accurately make your critical measurements. When measuring the output spectrum from LEDs, the HP OSA clearly displays the peak-power density, the mean-wavelength position, and full-width half-maximum values automatically. The HP 71450B can automatically provide you with the -3 dB, -20 dB, and other user-defined, spectral width values for your optical transmitter. Use the built-in functions to determine the peak power, side-mode suppression ratios, and stop-band characterization of your DFB sources. You will be able to fully characterize your FP laser. Get immediate results of total power, full-width half-maximum, center wavelength, and mode spacing, as well as a Gaussian or Lorenzian curve fits. The optional programmable current supply allows you to bias your LED or laser with up to 200 mA of continuous or, to minimize chip heating effects, pulsed current. In addition, you can monitor the output power of your laser of LED, as a function of the bias current level. The HP 71450B can measure noise (normalized to a 1 Hz bandwidth) generated by your device so that you can easily determine signal-to-noise ratios. These measurement capabilities are also available with the HP 71451B and 71452B.
