The Agilent 70341A Frequency Extension Module extends the low end frequency range of the Agilent 70340A 1 to 20 GHz synthesizer from 1 GHz to 10 MHz. The Agilent 70341A is a 1 slot MMS module which is easily combined with the 4 slot Agilent 70340A in an MMS mainframe. The 70341A makes use of a frequency divider to achieve the lower frequencies. This technique lowers phase noise by 6 dB per octave, and also reduces broadband noise which can result with mixing techniques. The RF output of the Agilent 70340A/70341A combination is routed so that the full 10 MHz to 20 GHz coverage is available from a single RF output connector without any degradation in level accuracy or flatness.
